Our Realtors® never tire of wandering among the vendors at the French Market. There's always a huge selection of food and drink, clothing and jewelry, art and souvenirs waiting to be discovered.
And it's always changing! If you're in town visiting New Orleans open houses, you don't want to miss a trip to the French Market.
History of the French Market
The French Market has existed in something resembling its current form since 1791. Some of the oldest parts of the present-day market were built in 1813. At that time, it was commonly referred to as the Meat Market, as it was the only place in the city where meat was sold.
Over the course of the 19th century, an informal bazaar grew in the space between the Meat Market and the nearby Vegetable Market. A building to house that bazaar was erected in 1872, looking very much like the French Market of today.
The most recent major renovations to the French Market were carried out by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s, though many smaller additions and renovations have taken place in the decades since.
French Market Vendors
Most of the vendors at the French Market come here every single day, and many have been set up here for years. But the market still changes from day to day, and you truly never know what you might find.
Although the French Market is seen by some as a tourist spot, it's also a favorite hangout for locals. Plenty of NOLA residents come here every week, not just to see what's new but to pick up their reliable favorites. Some of the things you'll find in the French Market include:
Visit the French Market
The French Market is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. It's sandwiched between the Mississippi River and the French Quarter and is just minutes away from many New Orleans homes for sale.
Although it's changed a lot over the years, the French Market is still a hub for commerce, culture, and community in New Orleans. It belongs on the short list of destinations that no NOLA trip is complete without!

The Alexandria Zoological Park (also known as the Alexandria Zoo) has been one of the city's top attractions since it first opened in 1986. Its popularity hasn't waned in the more than 30 years that have passed.
Our real estate agents know there are many family-friendly places located near Alexandria homes for sale.
Let's take a closer look at this zoo to discover what makes it so special.
Animals and Exhibits
The Alexandria Zoo showcases a wide variety of mammals, birds, fish, and amphibians for the city's residents. Animals are grouped according to habitat in spacious walkthrough exhibits decorated with themed objects to complete the guest experience.
You'll find most of the classic zoo animals here, including lions, kangaroos, and small monkeys. However, it's the unusual animals like the maned wolf, capybara, and Brazilian tapir that many guests fall in love with during their visit. Visit the zoo's world-class Brazilian jungle habitat to see all three!
The zoo's birds are arguably the highlight of their animal exhibits. Their enclosures contain elegant herons, striking cranes, and rosy pink flamingos, among many others. The zoo also keeps flocks of parrots of every color, including endangered species like the yellow-headed amazon and the umbrella cockatoo.
Finally, the zoo also contains an impressive collection of frogs and fish, including the eye-catching red-eyed tree frog and the distinctive blue tang and clown anemonefish. It may be hard to spot some of these creatures up close in the zoo's massive naturalistic habitats, but that makes the thrill of spotting one all the more enjoyable.
Zoo Amenities
Beyond its amazing animal exhibits, the Alexandria Zoo is also equipped to provide guests with everything they need during their day of fun.
If you get hungry during your visit, you can stop by the zoo's restaurant for a bite to eat. This small casual eatery serves staple foods like hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and fries, as well as snack-friendly favorites like soft pretzels, ice cream, and lemonade.
Events and Education
The Alexandria Zoo takes pride in its role as an educational resource and conservation leader in the state of Louisiana.
Each animal has its own profile on the zoo's website, where guests can learn about the animals they are observing, what makes each of their habitats unique, and what is being done to help preserve their populations in the wild. The zoo also distributes useful information on how to implement conservation efforts within your own home.
If you visit the zoo on certain days, you may also get to take part in some of the institution's special events. Their yearly events include an Earth Day celebration, a Mardi Gras Party, the Zoo Boo Halloween event, and the Holiday Light Safari. They also host a special after-hours party for members of their FOTAZ (Friends of the Alexandria Zoo) program once a year, usually in the late spring.
The Animals Await
The Alexandria Zoo's wholesome educational activities offer fun for the whole family, and it's far from the only exciting attraction in the area. Contact us today to learn more about the area or visit one of these Alexandria open houses.
Many first-time visitors to Louisiana are shocked when they see their first drive-thru daiquiri stand. Our real estate agents always get a kick out of watching people's reactions!
You might just pass a daiquiri stand or two if you're out visiting Lafayette open houses. Understandably, you might want to learn a little more about this uniquely Louisiana phenomenon.
How is This Possible?
To make a long story short, there's a particular loophole to Louisiana's open container law that allows frozen alcoholic beverages to be kept (but, importantly, not consumed) inside a moving vehicle, as long as the container is unopened.
In the case of daiquiris, the word "unopened" is generally defined as having the lid intact and no straw protruding out of it. Locally, daiquiris are usually sold with tape over the straw hole to show that it's "closed".
Best Daiquiri Stands in Lafayette
The upshot of all this is that drive-through daiquiris in Louisiana are not only wildly popular but also completely legal. That's why we're eager to share our favorite daiquiri stands near these Lafayette homes for sale:

If you're new to the Baton Rouge area, our real estate agents can help you find all the best things to see and do in the area. For instance, the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair is a tremendously fun event for both individuals and families, and locals look forward to it.
Last year, the fair was, unfortunately, canceled due to COVID. This year, however, it's back, running Thursday, October 28th through Sunday, November 7th. Anytime you go will be fun, but certain shows and attractions only run on certain days. Here's some of what you can expect, so you can plan your trip to the fair.
Pricing
The first thing to know is how much a trip to the fair will cost you. Due to the nature of many of the rides at the fair, admission is based on height. Anyone under 48 inches gets in free. For fairgoers 48 inches and above, it's $5 Monday through Thursday, or $10 Friday through Sunday. Parking is free.
Once inside, however, in order to go on the rides, you'll need ride coupons, which are sold separately from admission tickets. Ride coupons are $1 each, but some rides may require multiple coupons to get on. Or, you can purchase a wristband for $25, which allows you unlimited rides on any attraction at the fair. Being that the fair has over 40 rides for all different age groups if thrills are your thing, this is probably the best option.
All stage shows, concerts, and other non-ride attractions at the fair are included in the price of admission.
Shows
Many of the shows and attractions will be at the fair every day. Magician Tim Spinosa performs hand magic with a variety of everyday items, though his skills at illusion and charisma in front of an audience ensure that no two shows are alike. Meanwhile, Washboard Willy performs unique rhythm and music, with the help of his audience. There's also a petting zoo, piglet racing, and more.
There are also a few concerts you'll have to plan ahead for. Bands like Careless Whisper, Old Sole Band, Justin McCain Project and Groupon Sensacion will be playing on the first weekend. Blue Crab Redemption, Rusty Yates Band, and others will be performing on different days throughout the week.
Food
One of the biggest draws at any fair is the food! The GBRSF has a variety of food stands and food trucks to choose from. Corky Westmoreland has rolled ice cream and slushies in two locations around the fair, while Jeremy Westmoreland has funnel cakes, nachos, corn dogs, and more, in three locations. And Roger Westmoreland has all the decadent fair food you've come to love and expect, from deep-fried Snickers, Twinkies, and pecan pie to turkey legs, pork chops on a stick, and more.
If you want to check out the food trucks, Smokin' Like Ya Like It has barbecue sandwiches, wraps, tamales, and their brand new Smokin' Spaghetti. Allo Girls Catering has golden chicken, hurricane fries, and banana pudding. And Jambalaya by Shake has gumbo, boudin balls, etouffee, and more!
And that's just a taste of the different food items the fair has to offer this year.
Want to live right near all the fair festivities? There are plenty of Baton Rouge homes for sale right near the fair. Contact us to help you get settled into the perfect home for you.

The 2020 edition of GiveNOLA Day comes at an especially important time, as so many local non-profits provide support for the people and communities impacted by COVID-19. Our real estate agents have all the details on the impact of GiveNOLA Day, and how you can contribute this year.

When: June 2, 2020
Learn More about the History of GiveNOLA Day
The Greater New Orleans Foundation has long provided support for local non-profits, through fundraising, leadership guidance, and community events. GiveNOLA Day has been one of the biggest days of the year for the Greater New Orleans Foundation since the first edition of the event in 2014, and it takes place entirely online so that you can donate no matter your location. Thanks to the donations of countless individuals and the support of local sponsors, the total raised by GiveNOLA Day has gone up every year.
Funds raised by GiveNOLA day go to hundreds of registered non-profits located in the 13-parish area, with more than 750 local non-profits receiving donations in 2019. Any non-profit located in the area can register for a free profile from GiveNOLA, and the number of organizations receiving donations has grown every year. In addition to donations, extra funds are provided through awards for the non-profits that raise the most money and have unique donors on GiveNOLA Day.
How to Get Involved with GiveNOLA Day 2020
This year's edition of the event has been moved to June 2, 2020, due to the impact of COVID-19, and takes place entirely online. Donating is easier than ever, and all you have to do to get started is to visit the GiveNOLA Day 2020 website. You choose how much you want to donate, and which non-profits you would like to support. If you don't have a specific charity in mind, you can learn more about participating local non-profits on the GiveNOLA website.
Every penny of your donation, minus small costs for processing, goes directly to the organizations that you choose to support. The minimum donation is $10, and there is no maximum. And you don't have to wait until June 2 to make your contribution! Scheduled donations have already started, allowing you to schedule a donation early for the big day.
Local Sponsors Provide a Little Something Extra to Boost Donations

Get in Touch with Mardi Gras History
History is never far from your front door with New Orleans homes for sale, and Mardi Gras is certainly no exception. Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday," which marks the final day of the weeks-long Carnival season and takes place on February 25, 2020. The traditional colors of Mardi Gras are purple, green, and gold. It's a tradition that dates back centuries featuring the world's best parades, music, dancing, parties, costumes, and performances. Parades take place all around the city, but many roll Uptown or in the French Quarter. For some people, it's a yearly occasion, while it's a way of life for others!
Learn the Lingo
Throughout Carnival season, the parades and events you see are planned by local organizations called "krewes," who put together the costumes, themes, music, and of course, the elaborate floats that you see on parade. Each krewe has unique "throws," or small items that they toss to parade watchers. Throws can be anything from a simple set of plastic beads to an ornate trinket representing the krewe's theme. Learning about local krewes is a great way to plan for which parades you want to see most.
Get to Know the Krewes
Many krewes organize parades throughout New Orleans and in other nearby cities. Typically the most established krewes hold their parades on Mardi Gras itself, but there are amazing parades to see every day of Carnival season. The irreverent, sci-fi Krewe of Chewbacchus is always a hit, while the Krewe of Cork is dedicated to wine and revelry. The Mystic Krewe of Nyx is one of the largest all-female krewes, while the Krewe of Elks-Orleans is the oldest truck float krewe. There are krewes of every shape and size, so everyone has their own favorites. It's wise to plan ahead to see your favorites because parade routes fill up fast.
There's So Much to See and Do at Mardi Gras 2020
Mardi Grasis like a big party, but the Carnival season is also about history, culture, music, and celebrating the unique sense of community in New Orleans. Krewes often raise money for charity throughout the year and host elaborate balls during the Carnival season.
There are also kid-friendly parades and plenty of events throughout the season for families to enjoy. You'll even find parades dedicated to dogs, so your four-legged friend can get in on the fun! Mardi Gras is never just one thing. It means something special to everyone who attends because you get to create your own experience each year.
The unique blend of music, dance, performance, history, and revelry that characterize Mardi Gras are on display all year long when you call New Orleans home. Contact us to buy and sell homes in the New Orleans area!

The Cajun Country Run follows the Tour des Atakapas. The third and final race in the Courir des Cadiens Race Series is the Zydeco Marathon. This event challenges racers to endure a half marathon or marathon run to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
This year's event will bring tidings of great joy to winners of the race. One of the hallmarks of this event is the Special Gator Head trophy awarded to the winning male and female in each category. The fastest winners dressed as Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, as well as the best dressed Claus couple, will receive special prizes. All winners will walk away with a Santa's sack full of goodies from local sponsors.

New Orleans homes for sale and Marigny area homes for sale are some of the top real estate finds here in Louisiana. Although living anywhere in "The Big Easy" is a treat, the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood is something unique: It has a rich history as New Orleans' second suburb.
Let's visit and take a look at this wonderful place to live in New Orleans.
New Orleans is known for its history, music, and food – and Marigny has it all.
Outside of the French Quarter itself, you're unlikely to find a more iconic expression of the true New Orleans. It has developed into a cosmopolitan and singles-friendly neighborhood while still retaining the authentic flair that harkens back to its roots in the 1800s.
A flight of residents left Marigny quiet in the 1950s, but the Creole and Classic Revival-style cottages that were left behind are now being restored in record numbers. Historic businesses, such as bakeries and general stores, have also been repurposed as homes.
Meanwhile, larger spaces – such as warehouses – have been transformed into artists' studios and performance spaces. Today's Marigny has a lively and vibrant art scene that draws on the area's past. When you visit, you'll see the difference in doing New Orleans as the locals do.
That's right: You don't have to hit Bourbon Street to enjoy Creole cuisine and jazz. The jazz clubs in and around Marigny tend to have a more intimate atmosphere. You can find a show and a delicious dinner any day of the week, but it's easy to take things at your own pace at the same time.
Long story short, you will always feel welcome here!
The watchword of real estate is "location, location, location" ... and Marigny has it!
The Marigny neighborhood is relatively small, about seven by ten blocks in all, bordered in the south by Crescent Park and the Mississippi River. That means you'll only be a short walk from the French Quarter on one side and the Bywater neighborhood on the other.
A word deserves to be said about Bywater, which is often spoken of in the same breath as the Marigny area. It is known as a thrilling place to explore thanks to its remarkable trove of traditional architecture. New meets old thanks to the trendy and experimental bars and eateries.
And, of course, the French Quarter needs no introduction. The heart of New Orleans history is also one of the most legendary tourist districts in the whole United States. When you want to sample the revelry and bon vivre of this "crown jewel," it'll always be available to you.
Our real estate agents are waiting for the opportunity to help with your New Orleans journey.

When you're buying one of our New Orleans homes for sale, there are three things that you should know: food, music, and fun come with the territory.
Our real estate agents are here with an upcoming event that takes in all three, the New Orleans Oyster Festival.
Event: The New Orleans Oyster Festival
When: June 1 - 2, 2019
Where: Woldenberg Park, 1 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 7013O
Admission: Free
Whether you like to slurp 'em, shuck 'em, or sauté them, if you are a fan of the majestic mollusk, then the New Orleans Oyster Festival is for you. The weekend celebrates Louisiana Gulf Oysters and the people who farm and serve them. It also raises money for organizations which focus on coastal restoration and oyster habitat.
Lip-Smacking Fare
Besides mounds and mounds of oysters, you will have an array of other food choices from New Orleans' best seafood restaurants, including Desire Oyster Bar, Dragos, and Royal House Oyster Bar. You can eat oysters in whatever form is your favorite: grilled, fried, broiled, and of course, raw on a cracker with a touch of horseradish sauce. There's also line up of music and some fun oyster-based contests.
Shucking and Slurpin'
You may love your oysters, but you have never seen oyster eating like those who compete in the World Oyster Eating Championship. Professionals come from across the country to compete in this slippery contest. Last year's winner ate 33 dozen Louisiana oysters in 8 minutes. That's a lot of mollusks.
Of course, to eat those oysters, you first have to free them from their shells. That's where the P & J Shucking Contest comes in. Experts shuck as many oysters as they can in two minutes. Last year, the winner shucked 20 oysters, to tie the competition record.
And finally, oyster farmers will compete to see who has the largest mollusk. One year, a 3 pound 4-3/8" oyster won the prize. Wonder if that gets served on the half shell?
Art on a Shell
The festival also features some of the best in oyster-themed art around. You can find crafts from a range of vendors. Maybe a nice Southern scene painted by a local artist is just the thing for your home. Or check out the oyster jewelry or picture frames which are sure to add a NOLA flare to your decor. There are even oyster plates, forks, spoons and knives for sale.
So, mark your calendar for this fun-filled weekend and get ready to pay homage to a true New Orleans festival where scrumptious food, toe-tapping music, and funky art converge to win the day.
Contact us to find a home in one of our Crescent City neighborhoods and make New Orleans fun part of your everyday living.
Grab your boots, pull on your jeans, and mark your calendar for a weekend of no shirt, no shoes, no problems. For ten years, Bayou Country Superfest has brought together some of the biggest names in country music over Memorial Day weekend. This year SuperFest returns to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, after spending two years in the New Orleans Superdome. It's events like Superfest that make shopping for Baton Rouge homes for sale a great idea.
For two fabulous days, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, and Florida Georgia Line will be joined by Kane Brown, Chase Rice, and Cassadee Pope among others. Chesney is sure to fill Tiger Stadium with songs from the 20 albums he has recorded over his storied career. He has sung his way to the Top Ten Singles 40 times with 29 of those songs reaching number one, including Til It's Gone, Wild Child, and of course, No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems. Chesney's live shows regularly sell out, so Saturday's SuperFest crowd is in for a fantastic night.
Sunday, Jason Aldean will take the stage. Known for songs like Big Green Tractor, When She Says Baby, and Tonight Looks Good On You, Aldean boasts 19 number one hits, with eight others reaching the top ten. He has been named the ACM Entertainer of the Year in 2016, 2017, and 2018. His latest album, Rearview Town, debuted in 2018.
Other artists featured over the weekend also promised to bring a Stetson-worthy show.
To make the weekend complete, make time to go to Fan Fest where fun and food come together to create a huge tailgating experience. If you like to take your home on the road, your RV is welcomed at Bayou Country Superfest as well. There's RV parking in Touchdown Village, and special parking passes for those wishing also to bring a car. For hotel options and travel packages, check out the event's website.

Jazz was born in New Orleans, and that musical heritage continues every day in the streets, bars, and stages of our vibrant city. But once a year, it all comes together in one place, along with hundreds of thousands of locals and lucky visitors. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has been a NOLA tradition for half a century, and this year's 50th-anniversary festival promises to be another must-see, must-hear, multi-stage spectacle. As you browse New Orleans homes for sale, browse the festival lineup too to learn exactly why NOLA is the only place for a music lover to live.
Do you have your tickets yet? Here's what you need to know about the 2019 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival:
Can't make the first weekend of Jazz Fest? Don't worry; you have ten whole days of music and culture to experience. The festival starts on Thursday, April 25, and runs through the weekend before starting back up on Thursday, May 2, for another four-day weekend of fun. Each day features rotating lineups on one of several music stages throughout the Fair Grounds Race Course, as well as designated tents for gospel, blues, and even kids.
These days, Jazz Fest isn't just about the jazz. While the best of the best local and international jazz musicians will be on stage every day, the headliners also include a who's who of pop, rock, R&B, rap, bluegrass, and folk superstars. From Herbie Hancock and Mavis Staples to Katy Perry and Jimmy Buffet, this year's lineup truly embraces the anniversary theme, bringing together decades' worth of hits from different genres and places.
NOLA's cultural heritage is the real star of Jazz Fest, and some of our most beloved traditions revolve around food and fun. During Jazz Fest, stop by the Louisiana Folklife Village to watch locals sculpt Mardis Gras floats, forge iron balconies, knit shrimp nets, and more. After soaking up a few centuries' worth of proud NOLA traditions, fill up on gumbo, crawfish, and frozen drinks at one of the festival's many food and beverage areas. While you're at Jazz Fest, there's never a good reason to be bored, hungry, or thirsty.

If you've been searching for Lafayette homes for sale, you might have noticed Prejean's Restaurant alongside the Evangeline Throughway. If you haven't made your way inside yet, you're missing out! Our real estate agents are here with the details why this a local favorite.
A Fun, Family-Friendly Atmosphere
As the area's only theme restaurant, Prejean's offers visitors a true Cajun experience. The entrance is a replica of a bayou, complete with Cyprus trees and a small bridge you'll need to cross to get inside. Here, you're welcomed by "Big Al," a 14-foot alligator, and an array of other taxidermied swamp critters including alligator garfish and catfish. A painted mural of Bayou Chene, created by Cajun artist John Pourcio, creates the perfect backdrop for an evening of family-friendly fun.
Authentic Cajun Cuisine
While the restaurant's unapologetically-kitschy decor might make you wonder if it's a tourist trap, there's no need to worry. Prejean's serves up authentic Cajun and Creole food, seafood, steaks, and wild game. You can't go wrong with their rich gumbos, alligator cheesecake, and three-time gold-medal-winning crawfish etouffee. If you're feeling adventurous, try the seafood platter with alligator bites, frog legs, shrimp, oysters, catfish, and stuffed crab!
Live Music and Entertainment
Perfect for a lively night out with family and friends, the restaurant also offers live Cajun music every night from 7 to 9 p.m. and during brunch on the weekends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Don't make the mistake of thinking these are no-name bands, either. They pull in big names including The Clarence Denias Band, Woody Daigle and the Cajun Five, and more!
Getting There
Prejean's Restaurant is located at 3480 NE Evangeline Throughway in Lafayette. They're open Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome, but since the restaurant is often very busy, reservations are suggested. If you get there and it's packed, don't worry. There are plenty of repurposed church pews set up for guests to relax while waiting for tables. You can also pass the time wandering around the gift shop where you can find clothing, sauces and spices, dishware, and toys and stuffed animals for the kids.

This South Louisiana legend brings his authentic NOLA tastes to festivals throughout the country, but you get him in his own backyard.
Of course, the King only boils fresh catches, and crawfish are only in season through early summer. The Festival is your chance to celebrate crawfish season and indulge in the bounty of spring.
Want to live in a musical city? It's no surprise that the birthplace of jazz is still teeming with talented local musicians, and this spring is a great season to discover some new favorites. This year, the NOLA Crawfish Festival will feature a three-day lineup of local musical acts, including the lively Soul Brass Brand, the creative Samantha Fish, and "swamp funk" four-piece The Iceman Special.
If you love keeping up with local bands and trying new live music venues, get your groove on at Central City BBQ. A surprising mix of genres and sounds, this lineup makes it easy to get to know New Orleans and its music scene.
Of course, the Crawfish Festival isn't a spectator-only tradition. If you want to immerse yourself in the crawfish theme, try cooking or eating it competitively. Two big competitions – the Crawfish Cookoff and the Crawfish Eating Contest – are the main attractions at this festival, and you'll get a trophy and bragging rights if you take top honors.
Ready to show off your cooking skills? Find a partner, and compete with 19 other two-person teams for the title of Badass Boiler Champs. Prefer to indulge as much crawfish as possible? Apply to enter the eating competition, and try to eat the most crawfish in ten minutes. Everyone who enters gets free admission to the festival.

New Orleans homes for sale are some of the most enticing you'll find anywhere in the United States. Our real estate agents not only work here in the New Orleans area, but we also live here. That means we understand the ins and outs of what makes the community (and the market!) tick.
One of the most fascinating things about our area is how the jazz sound is so central to the "Nawlins" soul. Generations of musicians, from folk Creole to zydeco, have contributed to the music scene – but New Orleans jazz continues to be the local anthem. There's a simple reason why: Jazz was born right here in New Orleans.
When you visit historic areas of the city, you'll find many landmarks to jazz and its most famous pioneers. In fact, some of the clubs that gave rise to the jazz sound still stand today.
Today, you can soak up wonderful jazz from old masters and new pioneers on any evening. But if you want to delve deep into the past, present, and future of jazz, there's one place you need to go: New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park. It is an interactive educational experience that will give you a whole new appreciation for jazz.
Drop by the visitor center as you arrive in the park and you can embark on an 11-stop audio tour of the jazz universe – an immersive, self-guided experience that will spark your imagination.
When you're hankering for more, check out the park's ever-changing roster of ranger-led events. You can sit back and learn or even participate in live demonstrations.
Speaking of "live," there are plenty of musical performances right there on stage in the park. From Tuesday through Sunday, the park hosts visiting musicians who explore the origin and development of New Orleans' unique flavor of jazz.
Kids love jazz, too, and New Orleans Jazz National Park gives children of all ages and skill levels the chance to explore what makes the genre special.
Family-Friendly Fridays in the French Market make up a cornerstone of the park's youth programs, with a kid-friendly performance geared for pre-K through 3rd-grade kids. There's also a Jazz Junior Ranger program with activities for pre-K through 3rd and for 4th through 8th-grade kids.
Naturally, members of the community are encouraged to get involved all year around. Even if you can't play a lick of jazz, you can still volunteer! And if you are a musician, you might find yourself a brand new audience of eager learners.
Jazz is a glittering, glamorous part of the heritage of New Orleans, but it's only a start to what you'll find waiting for you. New Orleans is also home to some of the best dining, shopping, education, and employers anywhere in the country: It truly has the total package.
Choosing a trusted real estate agent is your key to experiencing the true heart of New Orleans.
At Latter & Blum, our team combines years of experience with unparalleled customer service. We'll support you every step of the way with expert advice and responsive customer care. That leaves you making informed decisions and feeling confident all the way to closing day.

Are you looking to move away from the fast-paced, stressful big-city life and into a real community? If so, you may want to consider looking into Breaux Bridge homes for sale. A small city, rich in history and tradition, Breaux Bridge is the sort of place where neighbors know your name and people put down roots. So what is so special about Breaux Bridge? Spending a little time in the heart of Breaux Bridge – it's beautiful and historic downtown – is a great way to find out, and here is a taste of what you can expect to find there.
World Famous Cuisine
Breaux Bridge is the Crawfish Capital of the World, so no discussion of its cuisine would be complete without a hearty nod to this local treat. Restaurants in this lovely little city were the first in the country to offer crawfish proudly on their menus, and Breaux Bridge is the place where the now world-famous dish, crawfish etouffee was created. It is famous for its crawfish farming and cooking, and for its famous for its annual crawfish festival, which is recognized as one of Louisiana's finest festivals. While crawfish is certainly a staple in Breaux Bridge Cuisine, its local eateries have lots more to offer. The city's large collection of restaurants that serve up authentic Southern Louisiana Cajun and Creole fare make it a destination for foodies from all over the country and the world.
Zydeco Music
Breaux Bridge is also known as the gateway to Southern Louisiana culture, and Zydeco music – and Zydeco dancing – is very much a part of that culture. With its roots deep in Bayou country, Zydeco music is a unique blend of Blues, R&B, Native and Creole sounds. No Zydeco band would be complete without the region's unique instrumentals, including the accordion and scrub board, backed by electric guitar, bass, and drums. Whether lyrics are sung in English, Cajun French or a combination of both, there is no mistaking the sound of Zydeco music, sounds that are unique to this very special part of the world. Breaux Bridge has a wealth of clubs and venues that provide hours of Zydeco music and dancing for the enjoyment of locals and tourists alike.
Beautiful, walkable streets
Breaux Bridge has been deemed the prettiest town in Louisiana, a well-earned distinction. From the famous bridge for which the city was named, to its lovely, beautifully preserved downtown streets, lined with quaint antiques shops and boutiques, taking a stroll through Breaux Bridge is rather like stepping back in time to a more peaceful, community-focused era. Then, just steps away from downtown, the stunning views and abundant wildlife of Bayou Teche, spanned by the famous Breaux Bridge, are on display, rounding out the experience that this warm and welcoming little city has to offer to both residents and visitors.
